SERMONS An imaginary interview with Lucifer reveals some of his latest strategies. Is all Christian counseling really Christian? What are some pitfalls to look out for.
It seems like we are hearing everywhere that we are united in our diversity. Is this a possibility or is it an oxymoron? Have we been preaching a complicated gospel? Is it possible to make it simple? Jesus tells us to be alert. Why are so many of us asleep at the wheel? Does encouraging young people to "color outside the lines" bring reformation and revival to the church or will it bring a revolution? This is a sermon to think about. This sermon speaks of the commandment that is hardly ever mentioned. A hint: Have you checked the balance on your credit cards lately? Often we want to go to the "how" without understanding the "what" of prayer. Before we pray we must make sure that our prayers are consistent with God's "codes" and "zoning". You may have heard that there are now some churches who
are including liturgical dancing in their worship service. They say that the
Bible recommends it. This sermon will tell you the truth about what the Bible
has to say about dancing. Print this sermon out and share it with a friend. Get
the truth out. This sermon teaches that as long as we don't respect God we cannot respect each other. It also contains some challenging thoughts about reverence and modesty. How many ways are there to heaven? How difficult is it to get there? What would you do about it if you knew that Jesus was going to come on a particular day, in a particular year? How should you live if you don't know when He is going to come? This sermon shows how the devil is taking over our language. He is giving new meanings to the words we use to explain the gospel. Why is it that whenever someone begins to talk about holiness in the Christian life, someone else hits the "righteousness by works" button and the concept is aborted? Holiness is what salvation is all about. They are telling us: "Let go and let God." The problem is that if we let go on the salvation train we might fall off. How Do You Know When You Have the Holy Spirit (pt I) What can you expect to happen in your life when you have the Holy Spirit. Should a person expect to speak in tongues or to fall backward to the floor? It is even better than that. This sermon will be a blessing to you. How Do You Know When You have the Holy Spirit (pt II) If a person knew what will happen when he has the true infilling of the Holy Spirit he might even think twice about praying for it. This sermon will show the fundamental changes that come into the life when the Holy Spirit is in our hearts. How Many Doctrines are "Too Many"? Some people say the church has too many doctrines. If this is true which ones would they be? Read this sermon and decide for
yourself. The issue of Christian entertainment is not a matter of culture or personal taste as some may suggest. Discover the underlying principle that will set the problem to rest. Ignorance Is Not Bliss - During our watch the devil has institutionalized a heresy that unless dealt with zeroes out eschatology as taught by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. From this false doctrine Satan will be able to deceive those who are not rooted and grounded in the Word. Evangelists report that once accepted, this false doctrine is very difficult to counteract. Is Guilt OK? - They are telling us that we should feel guilty about feeling guilty. What role does guilt play in the Christian life? Is the Church for Everybody? - If the Church is for everybody, does that mean that it is for anybody? Is There a Madness in Our Method? - Some say that we agree in principle, and we only disagree in the methods that are being used to communicate the gospel. Are methods "program neutral" or is there a madness in our method? Also available in Spanish. Let's Not Talk About Works Anymore - If you insist, we won't talk about works anymore. But do me a favor and see what the Bible has to say about the fruit of the Christian life. Love Bombs - This sermon tells you how love can kill. Mistake of the Heart - If we are to love the Lord with all our hearts, can anything else matter? More than a Friend - What is the highest relationship that a person can have with God? Some say it is friendship. What does the Bible say? No Turning Back - There is something about to happen that will slam the door on the gospel. It could happen to us. None of These Diseases - We have been proud of the "Health Message". Those who have followed it have less cancer and heart disease. But what about the "disease" of divorce? Shouldn't there be more to health than only physical health? One Taken and the Other Left - When Jesus comes he has his reward with him. Some will be saved and others lost. He must have decided beforehand who was who. This sermon discusses why it is necessary to have a judgment before he comes. Our Worship in the Pursuit of Holiness - We are in what are called "the worship wars". How we worship immediately is an indication of who we are worshipping. Our worship is a reflection of who we think God is. A right concept of the Holiness of our God will lead us to true worship. Also available in Spanish. Perfect - a Must or an Option? - Some people are very anxious for the perfect job or the perfect car but are uncomfortable with the idea of doing the perfect will of God. This sermon will make you glad that God is calling you to such a high goal. Also available in Spanish. Perfect - How Do We Sign Up? - When Jesus calls us to be perfect, he is doing us a favor. Don't forget that whenever God expects us to do something, He always gives us the power to do it. Planning to Win - What is secret of the victorious Christian life? We know how to fix it when it is broke. What about some preventive maintenance? Powerful Gospel - They say you were born that way. Is there hope for us sinners? Setting the Stage for Worship - Many are using the Old Testament as a model for worship. Let's do that and see what happens to the use of drama in some of today's worship services. Let the Bible decide. Shades of Gray - Often we hear someone say, "That is a gray area". Does the Bible agree? In the eyes of God are there things in our lives that are neither good nor bad? Shall We Fight 'em or Join 'em? - Increasingly there is the call to Christian Unity and even for a return to a day of rest. How shall people who understand last day prophecies relate to these things? What should be the conditions for Christian unity and a return to a day of rest? Show Me - Some say that the Christian life must be understood in the context of the culture where one happens to live. This is based on the assumption that culture is amoral. Does the Scripture teach that the Christian life must fit the culture or is it the other way around? Slain in the Spirit - Millions of people are attending revivals that are sweeping America. Whatever happened to the Latter Rain? Or is this it? Stop the Music - Was music meant to divide the church or to unite it? Is there something about the music that is being used in worship in many places that is more significant than just "my kind of music" or "your kind of music"? Also available in Spanish. The Danger of a Golden Rule Gospel - Someone made money with WWJD! Was there more here than meets the eye? Read this sermon and think some new thoughts about the significance of the current trends. Also available in Spanish. The Danger of Prayer - Has God gotten involved in Sports? With all the prayer before the games you would think so! Learn how prayer is being trivialized. The Death of Truth - Does truth still exist? Or is it truth if it is true to you? The Gospel According to Jesus - Many people have become experts in the Gospel according to Paul or the Gospel according to the Books of Daniel and Revelation. This sermon shows how we must begin our study of Scripture by understanding the Gospel according to Jesus. The Heart of Worship - Instruments have no more status in worship than the radiators which supply heat to the building. God trusts us to use such 'helps' reasonably, but they must never be elevated into a form of worship." This sermon literally goes to the heart of worship. Think On These Things - These twenty-five points lie at the heart of the issues that are facing Christians at this time. A misunderstanding or misrepresentation of truth can result in an inability to grow spiritually and could eventually result in a person giving up their salvation. Also available in Spanish. Whatever Happened to Character Development? - Where did all of this about temperaments come from in the first place? The concept was invented before the time of the New Testament. Have the four temperaments become a substitute for character development? Whatever Happened to the Rules? - Whatever happened to “Church Standards” Many people are glad that the “check list” seems to be going, going...gone. Have we “thrown out the baby with the bathwater”? Whatever Happened to Sin? - Things should be getting better and better in society because according to the culture what we used to call sin isn't anymore. Unless there is a clear concept of sin there is no need for salvation. What Happened to the Caring Church? - There are churches where you are welcome as long as you don't try to be a leader. Are people leaving the church only for theological reasons? This sermon is for elders, deacons and other church leaders. What Happened to the Cross? - Believe it or not, the cross is actually being put down by some who claim to be holding it up. What to Do About a Dead Church - If your church is dead and you like it that way, shame on you! This sermon rejects the extremes and makes some positive suggestions for liberals and conservatives. What is Wrong With the Word "Adventism"? - Is there a historical link between how "Judiasm" affected the message of the 1st coming of the Messiah and how "Adventism" could affect the message of the 2nd coming? When the Clock Strikes Midnight - This sermon is about Y2K but it is designed to not go out of date until Jesus comes. Who Are We Fooling? - The Bible tells us not to judge each other, but then it tells us we must judge ourselves. This sermon explains the difference and tells us why. Who Prays and Why - When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray He did. What is the single most important aspect of prayer? Who is Your God? - Is God ever more loving than He is just? This sermon explains how God is "One". Winds of Change - Some seem to be for change, and others are against it. Yet the gospel calls for change. How then shall we change? On what basis? You Be the Judge - When we are talking about right and wrong, morality and immorality, good and evil, it is not uncommon for someone to say, "But we are not supposed to judge." This sermon shows from scripture that the purpose of the church is to discern between good and evil, and to point out right from wrong. |
