On the Table Side By Side

A Holy Bible and the TV Guide,

One is well worn but cherished with pride,

(Not the Bible, but the TV Guide)

One is used daily to help folks decide,

No! It isn't the Bible;

It's the TV Guide.

As pages are turned, what shall they see?

On, what does it matter, turn on the TV.

So they open the book in which they confide

(No, not the Bible, it's the TV Guide)

The Word of God is seldom read,

Maybe a verse ere they fall into bed.

Exhausted and sleepy and tired as can be,

Not from reading the Bible, but watching TV.

So, then back to the table, side by side,

Is the Holy Bible and the TV Guide.

No time for prayer, no time for the Word;

The plan for salvation is seldom heard.

Forgiveness of sin so full and free

Is found in the Bible, not on TV!

We have the privilege of being able to find God if we diligently seek for Him with all our hearts (Pro. 7:15; Heb. 11:6; Jer. 29:13). He has never left us without a witness. So, if we are like the Bereans, who "received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so" (Acts 17:11), we can be considered as noble before the Lord.

His Grace Has Found Us

What woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it? Luke 10:8

We were like this lost coin, lost in the death trap of sin and without hope, when God loved us. We must remember that it wasn't because we first loved Him, but rather "God commendeth his love toward us...while we were yet sinners," (Rom. 5:8). He did not and does not treat us the way we deserve, valueless. Instead, He loves us and treats us as gems of great price. We are His precious jewels (see Mal 3:17)

His grace has found us; not we have found His grace.

Have a blessed Sabbath and be a blessing to someone else. God loves you!

The Infallible Guide

Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. James 1:22.

Before the very existence of man, there was something by which all beings were guided. Scriptures says, "His angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word." Psalm 103:20. Further, the heavens that witnessed the disobedience of Satan watched as the obedient angels follows Michael into battle. (see Rev. 12:7). Nevertheless, the Guide by which all creatures existed wasn’t meant only for heavenly beings, it was also to be given to mankind.

It was first given to our world when "When God said, Let there be light: and there was light." Genesis 1:3. The Word didn’t just command light to come, but made the existence of our light, true. It was given to man in the Garden of Eden and written down by Moses. It was spoken of by Jesus Christ, who said "I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love." John 15:10. The common factor between all of these accounts is obedience. The "darkness" obeyed and became "light." Adam and Eve repented and followed the word. Jesus "became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross." Phil. 2:8. All through the ages, those who were considered God’s servants were obedient to His every word. On the other hand, those who were deceived, failed to do His will. Jesus says, "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." Matt. 7:21.

Therefore, if you are Christ, then you are obedient to Him. And, if you desire the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, Jesus says, "If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever." John 14:15,16. The Holy Spirit, my friends, keeps us until that great day. So, "Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption."

Walk with the Lord today, following His every word, His infallible guide and be a blessing to someone else.

The Lord's Day

"On the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made" (Genesis 2:2).

On this day, God ended His work of creating our world; so he blessed this day, sanctified this day and called it His Sabbath. (Exo. 20:10, Lev. 23:2, Deut. 5:14).

In Mark 2:27, 28 our Lord specifically declares Himself to be "Lord" of the 7th-day Sabbath and specified the 7th day of the week as His in a special sense: "the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God" (Exo. 20:10). In Isaiah 58:13, He calls it "my holy day." The most logical conclusion is that the expression "Lord’s day" must mean His 7-th day Sabbath.

Remember my friends, Jesus said, "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth" (John 4:24), and the Holy Spirit has been promised to "guide you into all truth" (John 16:13), not some.

So today, if God is resting, why don't you?
